Yokohama in My Heart

Hello everyone, it’s been a long time, hasn’t it? hope you are doing well. One year of internship will go to an end in September. Good to see you again soon in Vietnam. In Japan I have had many memories as well as memorable experience; of which the most impressive thing left in my mind so far is the city of Yokohama. So today I will introduce you this beautiful city.

My dormitory is in Kawasaki; however, it’s fortunate to have an internship at a construction site in Yokohama city. What you may not know is that Yokohama has been voted as one of the most livable cities in Japan for many years. Yokohama is not only a modern city, clean, friendly people but also a coastal city with beautiful scenery.

I often go to Minatomirai, to experience beautiful scenery overlooking the sea from Osanbashi pier. Here you can also buy tickets to big ships to participate in long-term cruises or simply buy a ticket of 1,500 yen (about 250,000 VND) to take a short boat ride to see the surrounding area here.

The red brick warehouse is an old warehouse converted into a shopping center, where it often holds events that attract tourists such as a regular weekend beer festival or Christmas light festival, etc...

There is also a Ramen museum, where you can find the origin and enjoy hundreds of types of Ramen in different regions in Japan. The museum is arranged like ancient Japan with small alleys, along which are shops with old signs, I was really impressed.

Or you can visit the Chinatown where there is a variety of Chinese cuisine for you to enjoy.

Gundam Factory produces toys of the world's largest Gundam robot that can move. Not only children but adults also love to visit here. You can see an automated process that simulates the process of assembling a Gundam model toy. There is also a shopping area for souvenirs and toys related to Gundam robots.

In addition, if you have free time, you can also go to the bridge for fishing and relaxing with friends and family.

There are many other interesting places that I have also been to such as Nissan Yokohama Stadium where the 2002 World Cup was held, Yokohama baseball field etc.

Along with the contribution to the development of Yokohama city, Obayashi also made a mark of investing and building projects in this city. In Yokohama, Obayashi awarded as the general contractor to build a modern building dedicated to training and promoting the image and modern construction technology, which is the Port Plus building. Applying Omega wood technology is Obayashi's exclusive fireproof wood technology. This is a high-rise building with structure and finishing entirely made of wood and operated mostly by smart devices. I had the opportunity to visit this project while participating in the exchange program. It's also one of Obayashi's projects that impressed me. You can learn about this project at the following link: https://www.oyproject.com/

In addition to the completed projects here, Obayashi is also building a number of projects such as MM53, Minamisaiwai, etc. Currently, I am on training at the MM53 hotel and office complex project in Minatomirai Yokohama. Being the general contractor for design and construction of the project, Obayashi is also the investor contributing capital to this project.

This is a wonderful and interesting city that I haven’t explored all by myself yet. If you have the opportunity to come to Japan, definitely come here to travel and see the completed Obayashi projects.
