LAKE ASHINOKO
Lake Ashinoko was formed by the debris of an iceberg in the caldera of Hakone River after one of the volcanoes in Hakone erupted about 3,000 years ago. Today, the lake water source is mainly underground water springs from the bottom of the lake. The perimeter is about 20km and around the lake there are tourist spots, resorts and hotels which known as scenic places to watch the famous Mount Fuji - the most famous symbol of Japan. This lake is the final destination of the trip to Hakone because of its furthest location from Hakone.
There are 4 ports serving various cruises to enjoy the scenic view over the lake. In the autumn, the lake view is wonderful, with brilliant green trees with yellow & red leaves. Hakone is a major journey is for sure and is well worth visiting because of the many tourist attractions along the lake.
